Married (♂x♂) 63

Stifling another yawn, Thomas pressed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he drove away the drowsiness for a few more minutes, he shook his head and focused on the code again.

“Hey, man. Are you alright? You sound like you’re about to fall asleep,” GM said, concerned.

“You’re the one to talk. You’ve been up for almost two days straight. I can’t believe you’re still typing anything coherent.”

“I’m used to this. I’m probably half coffee by now. Glad I’m not a functioning member of society like you.”

Thomas couldn’t help but let out a wry laugh. “It’s all Lin’s fault. I never wanted to be. If it was up to me, I’d play videogames until I crashed, wake up late and rush to work while lying to myself saying I’d sleep early that night. That might’ve been the lie I told myself the most.”

“Probably most of the world does that,” GM sighed. “Too bad I don’t have a Lin like you. You’re lucky.”

“Yeah, I know that. I won the lottery with him,” Thomas said, smiling as he thought of the man he loved. I wanna see him…

“Speaking of him, didn’t his plane land already?”

“Not yet. There was a delay. But it should be soon…”

He looked at one of the many screens showing several flights that were either leaving or landing. However, he couldn’t figure out which was Lin’s flight; everything was blurred to him.

Thomas closed his eyes and took deep breaths to recover his focus. When he opened them again, he saw the flight was scheduled to land in less than ten minutes.

“Go to the gates, dude,” GM said after Thomas told him. “Greet your man like he deserves.”

“I will. It’s not like he’s jumping off the plane the instant it lands,” he said, turning back to his laptop. “Let me at least finish this first. I’d hate to leave something unfinished.”

“Hey, man, thanks for this. I know I said it before, but you have no idea how much you helped me. Now I actually have something that’s not completely bugged to show the prospective investors.”

“I told you dude, there’s no reason to thank me. You helped by letting Lin stay with you. It saved us a lot of money.”

“It doesn’t compare.”

“Then make sure my name pops up during the credits. Right under yours.”

“I’ll make sure it stands out. If you want, I can make it sparkle,” GM joked and Thomas let out an exhausted chuckle.

Even though he had slept before coming to the airport, it only had been a couple of hours. He was too excited with both working on the code and with seeing Lin again after two days.

Though he kept checking the screen to make sure the flight hadn’t landed, Thomas worked on the code. Just a little more… By the time the plane landed, he had finished fixing all the errors the compilation program indicated.

“Yes! I finished it!” he exclaimed, forgetting he was in a crowded airport. However, he was too tired to care. “I’m sending it to you right now to test it. If there’s any bug, tell me and I’ll fix when I can.”

“Thanks, man. But you’ve done more than enough. I can’t ask for more…” GM’s regret was obvious.

“I can do it after work. A couple hours every night.”

“And ignore Lin?”

Thomas bit his lips. The weekend without the man he loved was awful. What saved it was working on the game he once dreamed of making when he was a college student.

“Lin will understand. It’s only until your meeting. Besides, it’s not like I can leave you hanging. He wouldn’t like that either.”

There was a moment of silence. “Thanks, man. I’ll test it after I get some sleep,” GM said before ending the connection.

With the prospect of him embracing his boyfriend after so long and working on the program, Thomas felt wide awake for a moment. He packed his laptop and raced to the gate.

Even though Lin was exhausted, he couldn’t rest during the flight. There was a baby who was crying and the parents either decided to ignore or leave him crying until he grew tired. Either way, it was impossible to sleep.

Even so, when the captain said they would be arriving in a few minutes, he smiled. This weekend was too crazy, but it was amazing. But the best part is coming back to Tom. As he thought of his childhood friend and the man he loved and hoped to spend the rest of his life with, he couldn’t help but feel like the luckiest man in the world.

After the plane landed, he waited his turn to get out and stretch his legs. Though the seminar was great, he didn’t like spending so much time sitting. But when we get home, I’ll be lying down with Tom, he thought, chuckling and getting a few strange looks.

However, his excitement to be back faded as he waited for his luggage. When it finally showed up, he grabbed it and headed to the gates, looking around for Thomas.

“Lin!”

As he turned and saw his boyfriend, he couldn’t help but smile. He ran and only stopped when he was on Thomas’ arms.

“I missed you.” He hugged Lin tighter.

“I missed you too.”

After hugging for a while, they finally broke the hug and headed to the car.

“How was the last day?”

“It was great. But there was one thing funny.”

“What?”

“Remember the people from here that I met? The guy was all nervous when he talked to me today,” Lin said, chuckling as he remembered.

“What? Why?”

“Apparently, he didn’t know I was a guy. When he found out, he didn’t know how to act.”

Thomas let out an exhausted chuckle. “I can see that happening.”

“That’s enough about me. How’s the game going?”

“I fixed the last part and sent it to GM just before you landed. He’s gonna test it later.”

“Sounds like you had a blast working on it,” Lin beamed.

“Yeah. I missed working on stuff like that. Fixing problems for stupid clients sucks…” Thomas shook his head, both to drive away the sleepiness and the topic. “I promised GM I’d help him until the meeting with the investors…”

“That’s great, honey.”

“Y-you get that it means I won’t have much time… you know, for us…”

Lin flashed a gentle smile and reached out to kiss him when the lights turned red and they stopped.

“If you’re this happy working on the game, I can endure a few weeks without sex,” he said. “In fact, how about if we make up for this weekend when we get home?”

With that suggestion, Thomas blushed and smiled.

However, when they got home, instead of making love, they slept embracing each other on their bed, both smiling.
